Tom belittles Guardo's vow to help SRP

-

CEBU, Philippines – Mayor Tomas Osmeña does not believe that businessman Jonathan Guardo, who wants to run as south district representative, will not block the development of the South Road Properties if he wins.

The former sports consultant of Osmeña earlier assured the public that if he will be elected he will help develop the SRP contrary to the mayor’s speculations that he will block its development.

Osmeña, who is now in Pereira City, Colombia, to observe the implemen-tation of its Bus Rapid Transit system sent a text message to The FREEMAN saying “just look at all of Guardo’s allies”.

He said Cebu’s 3rd district Rep. Pablo John Garcia described the joint venture agreement between Cebu City and Filinvest Land Inc. as a “corrupt deal” while Tinago barangay captain Joel Garganera says it is illegal.

Osmeña said another ally of Guardo, Lahug barangay captain Mary Ann de los Santos, also suggested that the SRP should be returned to the national government.

“Guardo already maliciously tainted the SRP saying I use it like a private enterprise. Would you entrust your baby to people that are highly suspicious? I’m like a mother bear that will ferociously protect and defend her cubs,” the mayor said.

He said that as a businessman, he sees the potential of the SRP as a good investment and that he will be more than willing to help the local government earn from it.

But Guardo again assured that he will not block any development at the SRP, specifically as it belongs to the south district.

Osmeña had already announced that he may run against Guardo just to protect the SRP. Although Osmeña’s sister Minnie was also endorsed by the barangay captains to run for the post. – Rene U. Borromeo/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
