Farmer falls for death, dumping of man's body in Borbon cave

CEBU, Philippines - A few hours after the discovery of a man’s lifeless body inside the cave last Saturday morning in Barangay Cadarohan, Borbon, police officers arrested the suspect in the crime while he was about to flee on board a mini bus in Danao City.

Police investigator Edgar Novabos said that after they received information from witnesses about the identity of the suspect, Cesar Hurca, 44, a resident of Danao City, they immediately coordinated with Danao City police for his arrest.

Novabos said Hurca was arrested while he was on board a mini bus bound for Cebu City.

In an interview with The Freeman, Novabos claimed the suspect admitted to the crime, telling him (Novabos) that he killed Renilito Doblado Requeso, 49, a resident of Barangay Tayud, Liloan because he got mad when he saw his wife and the victim having sex.

It was learned that Hurca is already separated from his wife, who allegedly has a relationship with Requeso for almost six months. However, at the time of the incident, Hurca alleged that the victim and his wife are not in good terms.

“Ok raman unta daw to nga buwag na sila sa iyang asawa pero naglagot lang siya kay nakit-an pa gyud niya nga naghimu og milagro sa iyang uyab-uyab (Requeso). Amo sad iapil sa pasakaan og kaso ang asawa sa suspetsado kay mao man daw kuno ni nigunit sa biktima kay nilaban man daw ni siya sa iyang bana wa na didto sa iyang uyab,” Novabos said.

A case of murder will be filed against Hurca and his wife today.

At around 10 a.m. on Saturday, the lifeless body of Requeso was found inside the 20-feet deep cave in Sitio Tabayng Lawom, Barangay Cadarohan, Borbon with several stab wounds in the different parts of his body.

Dizon Novabos, a resident of the area, was the first to discover the victim’s body. He told police that he noticed a line of blood on the street, which made him curious. He then traced it that led him to the cave where he discovered the victim’s body.

While following the line of blood, Novabos said he found a bloodstained screwdriver along the way which could have been used by the perpetrators in killing the victim. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
