3 arrested for stealing cable wires

CEBU, Philippines – Three men were placed under arrest Wednesday dawn after they were caught cutting the cables of a telecom company in sitio Bacay, barangay Tulay in Minglanilla town dawn last Wednesday.

The respondents were identified as Wilson Abalo alyas Tawi, 21, a resident of Talisay City; Renan Cabigon, 19, resident of Cebu City; and Ricky Yares, 33, a resident of Talisay city.

Police records show that residents of sitio Bacay were chasing the suspects, which prompted the barangay police to respond. Moments later, after a few gun shots, the three suspects were arrested.

Two of the three suspects who were wounded were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center while the other is now in detention.

Arresting officers recovered the two bags of bronze/copper cut wire and two pieces of bladed weapon.

Appropriate charges are now being prepared against the suspects. At least 200 subscribers of the telecom company were affected by the cutting of the cable wires. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
