CEBU, Philippines - A 32-year-old former inmate of the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center was shot dead by an unidentified assailant last Tuesday evening in Seaview Heights Subdivision, barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City.
The victim was identified as Franco Lebumfacil of Toledo City who resided in the said place while working for a living by collecting fares from passengers of a public utility jeepney plying the 21B route.
Members of the Homicide Section and the Theft and Robbery Section of the Talisay City Police Station responded to the alarm and arrived at the crime scene finding Lebumfacil slumped on a pool of blood.
PO1 Jundave David, one of the responding policemen, said that Lebumfacil has just arrived from Mandaue City at that time after serving as “konduktor” when he was shot to death.
Lebumfacil’s common-law wife identified as Ruth Belarmino narrated to the responding policemen that Lebumfacil had survived same incident in Toledo City months back.
She said that Lebumfacil was already a stone’s throw from their house when the assailant shot him. The gunman hopped onto a motorcycle parked nearby where another man was waiting.
Supt. Henry Biñas, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, believes that the shooting may have something to do with people harboring personal grudge against the victim as his previous case had something to do with frustrated murder. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
