Mayor says Lahug resto starting to comply with zoning ordinance

CEBU, Philippines – Mayor Tomas Osmeña yesterday said the Fisherman’s Net and Garden Bistro is now complying with the requirements for a locational clearance and an adequate parking space.

Osmeña earlier issued an order to close the restaurant after the City Treasurer’s Office and City Planning and Development Office found out that the establishment has violated the city’s zoning ordinance.

Residents around the Fisherman’s Net and Garden Bistro also complained of too much noise coming from the restaurant especially at night, but Osmeña said this concern should be addressed by the barangay.

The establishment is located across the JY Square Mall in barangay Lahug.

In an interview with The Freeman, Fishermen’s Net and Garden Bistro General Manager Arlene Baculi said they are now implementing measures to minimize the noise, which is usually caused by the performances of live bands.

Baculi explained that having live bands perform is a way for them to attract customers and keep the business afloat.
