Forum tackles cons of RH bill

CEBU, Philippines – Almost a hundred representatives from the different parishes in Cebu attended a forum discussing the disadvantages of the proposed House Bill 5043 or the Reproductive Health Bill.

Human Life Incorporated president, Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer said that the forum was requested by Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal but could not attend because of a prior commitment.

Bullecer said that the Cardinal has called on the forum since he saw the concern over the bill and the possible things that might happen in Congress where it is presently being heard.

According to Bullecer, they do not have any concern regarding the congressmen but it is on the influence and pressure of other countries that are practicing the same bill.

The forum was attended by presidents of the different Parish Pastoral Councils in Cebu, church mandated organizations and the Council of the Laity.

Bullecer said that they chose to be pro-active on their fight against the RH bill in support of their previous actions and constant prayers.

He said that pro-life congressman, Cebu City north district Rep. Raul del Mar has asked for their moral support in fighting against the proposed bill.

Bullecer showed to the participants the effects of the bill if it would be approved like “more abortion cases” and would “boost immorality”.

Also, Bullecer said that the “bill is unjust for Catholic taxpayers who constitute the majority due to the payment for programs under the bill which is against their will.”

He said that the Cardinal has asked them to plan for actions to be done against the bill.

He also said that aside from strengthening their prayer brigades, they will also be giving out print materials, to be posted in all of the parishes, which state the stand of the Catholic Church against the bill. — AJ dela Torre/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
