Minor dead, 2 others hurt in separate shooting incidents

CEBU, Philippines - A male minor was shot dead while two others were injured in three separate shooting incidents yesterday in Cebu City.

Sixteen-year-old Nelson Abala, of B. Aranas Street, sitio Carvex, barangay Duljo-Fatima was shot dead by an unidentified man past 12 a.m. yesterday in sitio Tinabangay Alaska, brgy. Mambaling.

Investigation revealed that the victim was eating at a store by the side of the road when the assailant approached and shot the victim in the back of his head.

The victim was then taken to San Fernando Funeral Homes for autopsy.

Wilfredo Bañares, a Gender Assistance and Development volunteer of barangay Duljo-Fatima, said his records show that many complaints for theft have been recorded against the fatality.

A wallet without cash, a bunch of keys, a bronze-colored necklace, a plated bracelet, sunglasses, a toy car, and a nail cutter were recovered from the victim and are now at the custody of the police.

Meanwhile Mario Olayvar, 42, a jeepney driver and a resident of sitio Ponce, barangay Capitol Site, was shot by Michael Domosmog, alias “Mick-Mick”, around 7:30 a.m. yesterday in barangay Kalunasan.

The victim alleged to the police that he was at a parking area when the suspect, a native of Daanbantayan town, came and suddenly shot him several times which prompted him to run away.

The suspect allegedly tried to chase him but then fled when his handgun ran out of bullets while victim was then taken to Cebu City Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the right thigh.

The victim alleged that about an hour before the incident, he rode clinging on the step board of the PUJ driven by the suspect, when suspect teased him by saying: “Ayaw pasudla kay kawatan na.”

The suspect might have been irked when he retorted: “Ayaw pag-ingon ana bay kay daghang tawo.”

Meanwhile, Junjie Paso, 20 was allegedly shot by Warlie Laborte past 5 p.m. the other day in Gen. Genis St., barangay Sawang Calero.

The victim, a resident of Belgium St., barangay Suba, told the police that he was sleeping in his house at the said place when the suspect called him from outside.

When he came out the suspect suddenly shot him, hitting the left portion of his back. Although wounded, the victim managed to fight back and the suspect ran away.

The victim was then taken to CCMC while the suspect, a resident of barangay Sawang Calero, was no longer to be found.

The victim claimed that the suspect conspired with a certain Tory Bacus, who he tried to stab earlier in the morning. He said he was just getting back at Bacus who allegedly stabbed him a long time ago. — Niña G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
