Cop indicted in injury of masseuse

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a policeman before the Municipal Trial Court of the crime of reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries.

Provincial Prosecutor Pepita Jane Petralba approved the indictment of SPO1 Raymund Jugan upon the recommendation of assistant provincial prosecutor Mario Camomot.

Camomot found probable cause to hold Jugan for trial because of his alleged recklessness that resulted to the injuries of Imelda Jumao-as, a resident of barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

Jumao-as said that on March 22, 2008, she was on her way to Tabuelan to do a home service to some of her relatives in the town as a masseuse when the motorcycle of the accused collided with the motorcycle she was riding in sitio Tapon, barangay Tabunok Tabuelan. The policeman’s motorcycle was allegedly zigzagging towards their direction and eventually collided with them.

She alleged Jugan was drunk while driving, and the incident has caused her to suffer a complete fracture on her right femur.

Jumao-as said she tried to seek help from the accused but he allegedly refused to indemnify her. She likewise alleged to have already exhausted administrative remedy with the Regional Internal Affairs Service and the Commission on Human Rights but turned out futile.

She claimed the incident has forced her to stop working to earn a living for herself and her four kids. — Fred P. Languido/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
