CEBU, Philippines - Former Cebu City Police Office director Chief Superintendent Lani-O Nerez will assume the directorship of Police Regional Office-7 today.
Nerez will replace Supt. Federico Terte who will retire today.
A turnover of command will be held this afternoon at Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr. with Philippine National Police director Jesus Verzosa as one of the guests.
Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia believes that Nerez is the best man to head the regional police, saying that he would continue what former PRO-7 director Ronald Roderos had started.
Garcia also chose Sr. Supt. Jesus Gacquing Sr. as the new director of Cebu Provincial Police Office, saying that Gacquing has good record of accomplishment.
The governor chose Gacquing from a list of candidates that included Supt. Dennis Acre Siervo and Supt. Ricky Naz Nerbes.
Meanwhile, CPPO officer-in-charge Sr. Supt. Erson Digal said he would just follow the order of his superiors.
During his almost a month at the helm of CPPO, Digal said he had intensified the campaign against illegal drugs with the support of the provincial government.
Digal said Terte assured him of a position at the PRO-7. — Johanna T. Natavio and Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
