The City Council yesterday approved the resolution that seeks to allocate funds to be used as financial assistance to the passengers who were killed or injured in a bus accident in barangay Busay last April 23.

Councilor Gerardo Carrillo, action officer of the Cebu City Disaster Coordinating Council said that P10, 000 would be given to the families of the people who were killed in the accident while P5,000 will be given to those who were injured.

Two people were killed during the accident and 49 others were injured.

The mini bus, which was carrying over 50 passengers who were members of the Legion of Mary of barangay Sambag II plunged into a 300-meter deep ravine in Sitio Maaslom, barangay Busay.

The vehicle was owned by the Barangay Sambag and was just rented by the group who were on their way to their annual summer outing in the mountain barangay.

The president of the group, Margie Mabini, died during the accident together with the eight-year-old Jessan Gabisay Glenogo. — AJ de la Torre/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
