CEBU, Philippines – Judges, prosecutors, and law enforcers of Aklan have gathered for an inter-agency conference and seminar workshop on Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The conference, organized by the Dangerous Drugs Board and the Philippine Judicial Academy is being held at the Casa Pilar Hotel in Boracay Island and will end tomorrow.
P/Ssupt. Clarence Guinto, Provincial Police Director of Aklan, will serve as main lecturer of the conference wherein he will tackle important provisions of RA9165. Undersecretary Clarence Paul Oaminal, Vice-Chairman and Permanent Board Member of DDB and Gov. Carlito S. Marquez of Aklan will also speak at the gathering.
On May 29, the conference will transfer to Iloilo and will be hosted by the Regional Police Office led by P/CSupt. Isagani Cuevas. Oaminal will also serve as keynote speaker.
The conference and seminar workshops aim to update participants on the important provisions of RA 9165 and other drug-related laws, enhance their knowledge in handling drug evidence, and aim to provide them with a venue to discuss emerging issues in the different areas of the new anti-drugs law and problems that they encounter in drug cases, as well as in finding solutions to address these issues and problems. — Johanna T.
