Wanted man shot over "tong-its"

CEBU, Philippines - A man, who was later learned to have a pending warrant of arrest for murder, was shot by another man following an altercation over “tong-its” (card game) at 12:30 a.m. last Saturday in barangay Kabangkalan, Tuburan town.

The victim was identified as Jeffrey Alindao, 23, of barangay Cogon while the suspects were his neighbors, who were only identified as certain Badwin and Noel.

Police said Alindao was playing tong-its while waiting for the ballots for the last counting for the beauty search in barangay Kabangkalan.

But in the middle of the game, an argument allegedly erupted between the victim and his playmate over the bet. Suddenly, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun from his waist and shot Alindao.

The victim still managed to run away but was chased by the suspect, who shot him again twice hitting him in the right leg.

The victim was rushed to Tuburan District Hospital but was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City while the suspects remain at large.
