City Hall to release bonuses to employees

-

CEBU, Philippines - City Hall employees were all smiles yesterday after the approval of the P40 million allocation for their midyear bonus and half of their “extra” bonus.

Assistant city treasurer Emma Villarete said their office received the payroll from the Office of the City Administrator yesterday morning.

After processing, the payroll would then be forwarded to the Land Bank of the Philippines, which will release the bonuses to at least 5,000 employees.

Each employee will receive half of a month’s salary, as well as half the yearly extra bonus amounting to P2,500. City Hall gives an extra bonus of P5,000 wherein half of it is given at the end of the year.

There are at least 1,000 regular employees and 3,000 contractual employees at City Hall.

The budget for the bonuses was taken from the Personnel Services appropriation of the 2009 Annual Budget, which amounted to P2.63 billion, excluding the three Supplemental Budgets.

Employees with families of their own were relieved upon learning the good news, saying they now have extra budget for their children’s needs for the opening of classes. — Ferliza C. Contratista/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
