CEBU, Philippines – A taxi driver did not only lose his earnings and vehicle, but was also stabbed twice in a dawn robbery yesterday in San Jose Village, barangay Tisa, Cebu City.
The victim, who was identified as Vicente Villarino, 61 years old of Sindulan St., Mabolo is now confined at the Cebu City Medical Center.
Police investigators said that a man flagged the taxi at around 2 a.m. Minutes later, the passenger declared a robbery and stabbed the driver on the nape when he resisted and stabbed him a second time on the chest.
The robber then took P1,900 from Villarino and also his SSS and senior citizen identification cards.
The robber then dumped the injured driver and sped off with the Richielda Taxi with plate number GXF-404.
Responding policemen from Punta Princesa brought the victim to the CCMC.
PO1 Galil Aiza Nacario, beat patrol officer of the said police station, said that later in the morning yesterday, the vehicle was recovered somewhere in Tabunok, Talisay and is now in the custody of Talisay Traffic Group. – Niña G. Sumacot/NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
