Farmer shot dead in fiesta celebration
CEBU, Philippines - A farmer met his untimely death when he was shot by an unidentified assailant while attending the annual fiesta of sitio Lapa, barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete last Thursday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as Veronico Vargas, married, a native of the place but now residing in Negros Oriental. PO2 Noe Rosales of Dalaguete police station said that when responding police officers arrived in the area, Vargas was already dead. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the back portion of his head with the bullet exiting through his face. Recovered from the scene was a plastic component believed to be that of a shotgun.
