Farmer shot dead in Sibonga

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old farmer was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while he was resting after playing basketball in barangay Tubod, Sibonga town, last Friday afternoon at around 3:30.

The victim was identified as Jesus Paller Montefalcon, single, a resident of sitio Blanco of the same barangay.

SPO4 Rodilito Carillo of the Sibonga police station said that prior to the incident, the victim was playing basketball in the said place and sat down nearby to rest when he was tired.

A few minutes later the suspect, whose face was covered with a shirt, went to the victim and shot him twice in his head without any hesitation. The victim fell to the ground while the suspect casually walked away from the area.

Responding policemen led by SPO3 Ramon Padilla were not able to arrest the suspect but they recovered a deformed slug and two empty shells of a .45 cal. pistol at the crime scene.
