Foreman shot dead by his "lover's" son

-

CEBU, Philippines - A foreman was killed on the spot after he was shot several times by the son of his alleged mistress at a bunkhouse in barangay Kinawahan, San Remigio town last Friday morning.

The fatality, Leonides Cuizon, alias “Rodulfo” and “Yul,” 41, was working as a foreman for Venrey Construction Company. He is a native of Pinamungahan town.

The suspect was identified as Ralph Retuya, estimated to be over 20 years old, married, and resident of barangay Busogon, San Remigio.

Police investigators believe that the motive of the incident was the alleged illicit affair of the victim with the mother of the suspect.

Insp. Rolly Lauron, chief of San Remegio Police Station, said that the victim was one of the foremen of the construction of a bridge that connects barangays Kinawahan and Busogon.

Lauron said that last Friday was the victim’s last day of work as the bridge’s construction was already finished.

On the same day, the victim was allegedly chasing his fighting cocks at the bunkhouse around 11 a.m. when the suspect shot him.

Because of the serious gunshot wounds he sustained, Cuizon died on the spot while the suspect immediately fled from the crime scene.

Lauron said that the day before the incident, the suspect caught the victim and his mother inside a hut at around 4 a.m.

“Nasakpan man kuno to pagka-kaadlawon sa anak, mao ‘to gahapon gi-postingan na gyud ‘to daan ang biktima,” Lauron said.

The police could not yet file a charge of murder against the suspect until the family of the victim claims his body, which now lies at Merciful Funeral Homes in San Remigio.– Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
