Province announces Suroy for May, June

CEBU, Philippines – The Cebu provincial government will hold its second and third Suroy-Suroy Sugbo for this year from May 23 to May 24 and from June 12 to June 13 respectively.

The month of May is set for the package “Discover Enchanting Camotes,” in which tourists will experience the enchantment that the towns of Pilar, Poro, San Francisco and Tudela offer.

The tour showcases the beauty of the oldest church, the “Buho Rock” or the resort with staircases built to connect a rock to another rock and the Mount Three Peaks, the highest point in Camotes in Poro.

Pilar brags for its white beach in Cawit, enchanting Naukban blue lagoon and several ancestral houses which define its richness in culture.

In the biggest town, San Fracisco, attractions vary from Lake Danao, Mangodlong Rock Resort to its interesting native bamboo products.

Tudela is famous in its Bukilat Cave with nice view and pool inside and the Mag-agay-ay Beach, which is known for its shoreline with stunning rock formation.

The organizer of the tour has reserved 103 rooms for tourists and guests.

In June will be the “Explore the Midwest” Suroy Suroy Sugbu in the towns of Aloguinsan, Asturias, Balamban, Pinamungajan, Tabuelan and Tuburan and in the city of Toledo.

These towns are known for their natural heritage, historical infrastructures and native products.

Suroy Suroy Sugbu is the initiative of the Capitol to boost the local tourism. Now on its third year, the event has so far been successful in bringing tourists to the province.

Aside from increasing the tourist arrivals in the province, Suroy-Suroy Sugbo has also helped promote the potentials of the towns and cities outside Metropolitan Cebu. – Jessica Ann R. Pareja/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
