Former taxi driver hurt in shooting

CEBU, Philippines - A former taxi driver was shot by an unidentified assailant inside his house in barangay Lutac, Naga, yesterday afternoon at around 1 p.m.

The victim was identified as Solomon Ibarle, 28, a resident of said place.

SPO1 Elmer Opsima of Naga City police investigator said that the unidentified assailant suddenly arrived and asked the victim’s mother for whereabouts of her son.

It so happened that the victim was inside their house and the assailant got inside. He saw the victim and fired him three times at him with a gun later determined to be a 9mm cal. pistol.

The victim was hit in the chest but was still able to run and jump into a river near their house while the assailant fled.

The victim was rushed to South General Hospital and was still in critical condition as of press time.

Responding policemen recovered a slug of 9mm cal. pistol from the crime scene.

Opsima added the victim said that he can identify the person who shot him as he was also a former taxi driver.

Last Thursday two men on a black motorcycle with plate number GC-9645 came looking for the victim.
