Aspiring Principals must now pass exam

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Education has set new rules for teachers applying as principals in schools.

This time, the applicant should pass the qualifying examinations and not done through appointments as stated in the memorandum issued by Undersecretary Vilma Labrador to all the regional offices nationwide.

Labrador said that “passers of the qualifying exams, including those who qualified in the tests will form a pool of qualifiers” and will be “included in the waitlist for a vacant principal position”.

She also said that the teacher-applicants will also undergo training in order to be included in the selection and or line-up.

Strict compliance with the order should be observed by all the regional offices and that regional directors should monitor the implementation of the order, Labrador added.

“It should be ensured that only those who have passed the examinations and have undergone training would be included in the line-up for Principal I position,” she further said.

“Any schools division superintendent determined to have appointed non-qualifiers and other officials and personnel who have violated the provisions of this order shall be dealt with appropriate sanctions after due process,” Labrador said. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
