Talisay City College alumna places 9th in teachers' board

CEBU, Philippines - A graduate of the Talisay City College placed ninth in the recent Licensure Examination for Teachers-elementary level, official results of the Professional Regulation Commission showed.

Aiza Valenzona Pansacala, 20, a resident of barangay Mohon in Talisay City, got a score of 87.20 percent together with four students from other schools.

In the elementary level examination, 7,470 passed out of 26,812 examinees while 5,914 passed out of 23,975 examinees in the secondary level. These figures represent 27.86 percent and 24.67 percent passing rates for the elementary and secondary level examinations, respectively.

Fifty-nine from TCC took the exams but only 46 passed in both the elementary and secondary levels.

TCC founder and First District Rep. Eduardo Gullas described Pansacala’s success as “an honor,” considering that TCC opened barely five years ago. Gullas also awarded Pansacala a scholarship grant for a master’s degree at the University of the Visayas.

Aside from this, Gullas reimbursed Pansacala of her expenses while studying in TCC, which amounted to at least P19,000 and promised her a job at the Department of Education in Talisay City. 

Scoring the highest in the elementary level exams is Lorivi Robles Hubayan of the University of the Philippines-Diliman with 90 percent.

In second place is Catherine Joy Batrina Catalan of the University of Pangasinan with 89.80 percent; in third place is Dena Sasing Cula of UP-Diliman with 89.40 percent; n fourth place is Aileen Reyes Macapagal of UP-Diliman with 88.80 percent; in fifth place is Hershey Gambon Calma of UP-Diliman with 88.40 percent; and in sixth place is Charmaine Villarica Ariem of the Holy Angel University with 88.20 percent.

The seventh spot is shared by Gian Carlo Salabao Auxilian of Saint Anthony’s College-Antique, Ma. Belle Desiree Gapusan Casino of Xavier University, Marjorie Mendoza Jimenez of National Teachers’ College, and Charla Rochella Gino Santiago of UP-Diliman who all got a score of 87.80 percent.

In eighth place was Sheila Ann Clarion Dallego of UP-Diliman with 87.40 percent.

Sharing the night rank with Pansacala are Michelle Reyes Agas of UP-Diliman, Karen Mae Abraham Almin of De La Salle University-Lipa, Lla Manuel Cagungun of National Teachers’ College, and Xyra Mel Obillo Duque of UP-Diliman.

In 10th place is Mary Rose Teope Culanggo of Notre Dame University with 86.80 percent. — Liv G. Campo/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
