NAPOLCOM holds first firearm training
CEBU, Philippines - The regional office of National Police Commission conducted the first gun training yesterday at the shooting range of the military’s Central Command.
About 30 NAPOLCOM members joined the training, during which the NAPOLOCOM-7 Gun Club was organized.
Club president and NAPOLCOM regional director Bernardo Calibo said they are the first to organize this kind of activity.
The trainer and resource speaker during the event was Capt. Rolando Maximo, known as Captain Max, a champion in national and international gun shooting competitions.
Maximo had undergone training in United States on terrorism. During the US training, he bested other participants that included members of US Delta Force and US Navy in shooting competition.
Along with the new gun club, the NAPOLCOM-7 Judo Club was also organized.
Meanwhile, around 60 police investigators in Central Visayas will undergo a two-day refresher training next week.
During yesterday’s Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis, Sr. Supt. Audie Villacin, chief of Regional Investigation and Detective Management Branch of Police Regional Office-7, said that participants will be investigators from the important precincts and cities in the region. Villacin said the training does not imply that police investigators in Central Visayas are less competent that they need to undergo another training.
“This is just to remind them (investigators) the latest procedures in criminal investigation,” Villacin said.
Villacin said that they have already advised Camp Crame to send the best lecturers and lawyers for the training. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc and Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
