Man killed for kissing, hugging married woman
CEBU, Philippines – A 53-year-old man met his untimely death Sunday after he was hacked by a woman he was hugging and kissing in Sogod town.
The victim, Narciso Mondero, a coconut toddy gatherer, reportedly died of hemorrhage. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Sogod town where the hacking incident happened.
Police records said a drunk Mondero went near the house of one Letecia Sulib, 36, in sitio Abu, barangay Poblacion to gather coconut toddy past 3 p.m. last Sunday. When he saw Sulib, Mondero reportedly “got mad without any reason, went berserk, and hugged and kissed Letecia.”
When Sulib managed to free herself from Mondero, she reportedly got hold of a two-feet bladed weapon locally known as “pinute” and hacked Mondero, hitting him hard on his upper left leg.
Sulib later voluntarily surrendered to Sogod police and said what she did was only self-defense.
Mondero and Sulib reportedly knew each other beforehand, as Mondero always frequented the area near Sulib’s residence to gather coconut toddy.
Sulib, married, is currently detained at the Sogod Police Station. — Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
