CentCom holds "Bike for Peace" in Danao

-

CEBU, Philippines - After its launching held at the Capitol building last month, the Central Command’s “Bike for Peace” held another activity in Danao City yesterday morning.

The activity, founded by Deputy Central Commander Brig. Gen. Jessie Dellosa, started with a one-hour Tae Bo exercise at Danao Plaza before 100 bikers’ club members pedaled around the city.

Around five bikers’ club, namely the Spirit of Paradise (of Camp Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City), Cebu Bikers Club, Danao City Bikers Club, Liloan Bikers Club and All Terrain Bikers Club Organization of Guadalupe (ATBOG of Cebu City) joined the activity.

Dellosa said that the activity has three main objectives: peace and prosperity in Cebu, physical fitness, and protection of the environment through biking.

Dellosa further said that he wants to convey to the public the three Ps for there can be no development without peace, he said.

He said they first went to Danao City after Cebu City because they know Danao Mayor Ramon Durano III and most of the residents there for being bike enthusiasts.

The activity founder said they will continue planning and conducting for the event to accomplish their objectives.

“We will continue pedaling our bikes to accomplish our objectives,” Dellosa said.

Dellosa said they are targeting to conduct the activity in the different cities and municipalities of Cebu.

Danao City Sports Commission head Oscar Rodriguez said that they were surprised but very happy with the turnout of the activity.

Organizers encourage other club members to join the next activity to be held in Balamban town and Toledo City this June 7.

Dellosa thanked the facilitator of the activity, especially Janet Montenegro, Marketing Department head of The FREEMAN and Col. Arnaldo Fernandez, Jr., 53rd Engineer Brigade commander. —Niña G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
