One dead, three hurt in stabbing incidents

CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed while two others were injured and landed in the hospital after they were stabbed in three separate incidents in Cebu City early morning yesterday.

The first incident happened around 1:30 a.m. in sitio Panaghiusa, barangay Basak-San Nicolas, wherein Christopher Ragasajo, 26, of the same place was stabbed by a certain Iman Fantonial, a resident of sitio Ipil.

Investigation showed that Ragasajo was waiting for his girlfriend outside a benefit dance when he was stabbed by Fantonial with a 10-inch knife.

The assailant , who allegedly has an old grudge against the victim, fled from the incident while the victim, who was wounded in the chest, was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he died a few hours later.

Responding barangay tanods recovered the knife from the crime scene and turned it over to the responding police.

The next incident happened 3 a.m. in sitio Kawayan, B. Rodriguez Street, barangay Sambag 1 wherein Daniel Bernardo, 28, a resident of barangay Maslog, Danao City, was stabbed by three unidentified men.

The victim told the police that he was walking near the basketball court with four companions when the assailants suddenly appeared and attacked him with a piece of wood, hitting him in the face.

Bernardo fought back and one of the attackers stabbed him in the left elbow.

The victim and his friends ran away, got on a taxicab and asked to be taken to CCMC for treatment.

Over an hour later, Reynaldo Miranda, 27, a deliveryman of a store in barangay Capitol Site, was stabbed by an unidentified man.

The victim told police that he and his friends, a certain “Robot”, “Philip” and “Ramos” were drinking beer beside the road when the assailant, one of the construction workers of a nearby building under construction, tried to smash a beer bottle against the road.

The victim told Robot to stop the latter who appeared drunk but two companions of the suspect came and attacked Miranda, successfully distracting his attention from the suspect who was able to stab him in the left part of his chest with a knife.

Miranda described his attacker as slim, five feet tall and with curly hair.
