Honored valedictorians in province form group
CEBU, Philippines - The 227 valedictorians who were chosen to participate in the recent “Pasidungog Alang sa mga Valedictorian” seminar-workshop organized by the Cebu provincial government have decided to form an organization.
Officially called “Mga Pinasidunggang Valedictorians Batch 1 (MP1),” the group comprises all valedictorians from both public and private schools in the province.
Its objective is to “keep the fire burning from humble beginnings into an immense realization.”
According to MP1 president Jenny Ann Pimentel of Montañeza National High School of Malabuyoc, they will continuously connect all valedictorians in the years to come since they are the pioneering group.
“We would also like to keep all of them (valedictorians) in the right track, especially to the next generation by inviting them and encouraging them to grab different opportunities such as summer jobs and scholarships,” Pimentel said.
The group plans to give importance on youth welfare and nation’s development with programs focusing on the 4H’s namely hiniusa (united), hinlo (clean), himsog (healthy) and hamugaway (progressive).
Christian Harald Capoy, MP1 vice president, said the 4Hs are the major concerns that society are facing now.
“With the projects we planned, we hope to help the government in propagating its thrust and objectives in our own little ways. We want to take part in the country’s struggle for progress,” he said.
One of the group’s plans is to conduct different “youth assemblies and transformational leadership programs that will talk on proper sanitation, right nutrition and sufficient education.”
Officials of the group are Jenny Ann Pimentel (president), Christian Harald Capoy (vice president), John Lester Lastimosa (secretary), Era Mae Baring (assistant secretary), Jomelle Postre (treasurer), Rosell Quiño (assistant treasurer), Avy Pilapil (auditor), Roselle Margaret Dangin and Jeric Moniva (PROs), and Junrey Armecin (business manager).
There are five directors of the board. — Sarah Jane A. Nengasca and Grace C. Guiang (THE FREEMAN)
