Police say family of murdered trader still uncooperative
CEBU, Philippines - Police claimed they are having a hard time solving the killing of Anna Yu, a 68-year-old businesswoman shot at the gate of her house in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City last month, because her family remained uncooperative.
Chief Insp. Mario Monilar, chief of the Homicide Section of Cebu City Police Office, told reporters yesterday that Yu’s family is not coordinating in their investigation into the case.
Monilar said that they are doing their part to solve Yu’s killing but they are disappointed that her family is not willing to give details on the case.
Worse, Monilar said the house helpers of the Yu family who could serve as witnesses to the case have already returned to Mindanao and could not be located.
But despite this, the Homicide Section chief said they are still investigating the case. In fact, he said they are pursuing a man they believe as the hired killer of Yu.
The police also believe that the triggerman is still living in Cebu.
Before the incident, the Yu family was reportedly accused of maltreating their three house helpers.
The victims were later rescued by the police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development. — Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
