CEBU, Philippines - The city council approved a resolution appropriating almost P6 million for the response operation to damaged property and affected individuals at the Inayawan sanitary landfill.
During the recent session, the resolution of Councilors Gerardo Carillo, Nestor Archival and Augustus Pe was approved immediately appropriating P5.98 million to be charged to the calamity funds for the acquisition of various items and resources required to effectively carry out the joint response operation in suppressing the fire which is affecting four hectares in the area.
The appropriation was pursuant to the resolution approved by the Cebu City Disaster Coordinating Council.
Around P1.8 million will be spent for the rent of various heavy equipment and another P1.6 for the purchase of assorted hardware supplies.
The rest goes to medical supplies, food packs, communication and firefighting equipments.
The dumpsite portion of the landfill have been continuously smoldering since April 6.
