Taxi driver pleads not guilty to drug charge

CEBU, Philippines – The taxi driver who allegedly conspired with a woman in extorting money from the latter’s husband pleaded not guilty to the drug case filed against him.

Jimmy Amen was earlier arrested in an entrapment operation for allegedly setting up a kidnapping to extort P15,000 cash from Sean Paul, the husband of his paramour Carin Ann Kenny.

During the arrest last March 3, police also seized a plastic packet containing 0.03 grams of shabu and a .357 with two live ammunition from Amen.

Amen is entangled in a love triangle with Kenny and Carin Ann.

The supposed kidnapping of Carin Ann turned out to be hoax but Kenny chose not to file a case because he did not want to see his wife behind bars.

Yesterday, Amen entered his plea before Regional Trial Court judge Enriqueta Belarmino even without counsel.

Carin and Amen earlier admitted they have been in a relationship for about six months, but denied making up the kidnapping to extort money.

Carin said she merely asked for money from Sean Paul so she could pay her dues. — Jasmin R. Uy and Iris Christine Cornito and Angelica Odias, (THE FREEMAN)
