CEBU, Philippines - Representatives of schools from Cebu City, Toledo City, Talisay City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Naga, Carcar and other parts of Cebu Province became the first batch to participate in the school-based legal management training seminar conducted by the Department of Education-7.
Ronald Gutay, assistant school division superintendent for DepEd-7 said the training seminar held last April 16 and 17 at the DepEd Ecotech Center in barangay Lahug, Cebu City, will equip school principals, supervisors, officers-in-charge, administrative officers and members of the school/district/division grievance and investigating committee with the basic knowledge on legal management in schools.
It is also meant to train the participants in the proper conduct of an administrative investigation and how to use alternative modes of resolving disputes in the school and division level. It will also familiarize the division and school disciplinary committees with the basic legal forms used in administrative proceedings and other vital communications used in legal correspondence.
The participants of the first seminar were composed of principals, teachers, district supervisors, school administrative officers and other officers charged with school discipline.
The training of the second batch, which will be comprised by representatives from other provinces of Region 7, will take place next month. — Mark Gantuangco, CNU Masscom intern/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
