NAVFORCEN bares opening of recruitment

CEBU, Philippines – The Philippine Navy’s Naval Forces Central (NAVFORCEN) announced the opening of the recruitment of 200 officers, 1,200 Marine enlisted personnel and 300 fleet enlisted personnel this year.

NAVFORCEN public affairs officer Judyline B. Canoneo said they would conduct a Visayan-wide recruitment for qualified applicants.

In Cebu, the recruitment for officers and enlisted personnel will be from May 9 to 15 at the University of Cebu Main Campus along Sanciangko St. corner Juan Luna Street, Cebu City. NAVFORCEN will conduct the same activity in Iloilo City from July 4 to 10 at John B. Lacson University.

An applicant should be Filipino citizen, single, at least five feet and four inches for males and five feet for females. He must have no pending civil or criminal case.

Qualified applicant must be physically and mentally fit for training and must pass the Armed Force of the Philippines Aptitude Battery Test, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) Test and special written examinations.

Applicants for officership must be from 21 to 28 and a graduate of a baccalaureate degree.

For enlistment, applicants must be from 18 to 23 years old and must have finished at least 72 unit college course or should have graduated a two-year vocational course, preferably a technical course.

Canoneo said that qualified applicants for officership will undergo the Naval Officers Candidate Course (NOCC).Enlisted personnel will likewise undergo the Basic Seamanship Course (BSC).

“The Philippine Navy offers a progressive military career to successful applicants. There will be a competitive pay and allowances, job security, insurance and health care benefits, billeting and housing privileges as well as leadership and other skills training,” said Canoneo.
