1 killed, another hurt in separate shootings

CEBU, Philippines - A man died on the spot after he was shot by one of two unidentified motorcycle-riding men Saturday dawn in Danao City.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ali Maximo Casino Jr., a security guard and resident of sitio Kulo, barangay Kahumay-humayan, was shot by the man riding in pillion with the motorcycle driver.

PO3 Dominic Tampus of the Danao City Police, based on the investigation, said that Casino was with friends Junme Barbero and Christopher John Durano, the driver, from barangay Poblacion Proper on their way home.

Upon reaching at a dark portion of sitio Manghulaw, barangay Masaba, two motorcycles suddenly overtook their vehicle and that one man fired a shot at the victim then sped away. The victim was hit in the head. Police are now conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive of the shooting.

Meanwhile, despite the call of the Church to observe a solemn Holy Week, another was shot in Medellin town last Good Friday.

Initial investigation conducted by the authorities of the barangay Kawit Police Substation revealed that the victim was Ramolido Bolutano, a resident of sitio Common of the said barangay.

The victim who was reportedly having a swim at a beach in the said barangay was hit in the back.

Immediately his relatives took him to the Severo Verallo District Hospital in Bogo.
