Terte barred from entering Supercat Terminal

CEBU, Philippines – Allegedly due to lack of coordination, Police Regional Office-7 director Federico Terte was barred from entering Pier 4 in what was supposed to be a random inspection of security at the ports and bus terminals yesterday morning.

Romil Flores, the security guard on duty at the Supercat terminal, contended that he did not let Terte and his contingent pass because they were reportedly instructed by management not to allow any official to easily enter the premises without proper coordination.

Aside from this, Flores reportedly did not recognize Terte and even said they would have to seek authorization from management for Terte’s team to enter.

Terte, who got irked by the unexpected welcome, no longer insisted on entering but ordered to have the security guards’ licensed checked, as well as determine whether they have undergone proper training.

He even recommended that the security guards undergo property training at the Regional Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Unit headed by Sr. Supt. Rex Derilo.

Terte said they only went to the terminal with no other intention but to check the security measures implemented therein for the Holy Week.

Gerald Gailan, the detachment commander of Cattina Security Agency with which Flores is employed, later apologized for the incident, saying it was only due to miscommunication. — Nina G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
