Liloan to promote, regulate food street

-

CEBU, Philippines – A food street will be launched in the municipality of Liloan to attract more domestic and foreign tourists.

Although vendors have been selling food items along the town’s roads and at the town’s beaches for a long time now, this will be the first time that they will get promoted and, at the same time, regulated.

Twenty-one members of the Acacia Vendors Association were called to a meeting so they could be informed of developments that will be implemented to give way to a food street.

Aljew Frasco, the executive secretary of Liloan Mayor Vincent “Duke” Frasco, raised the idea of putting up a food street adjacent to the municipal building.

“This way, tourists and residents could go to one place to visit if they want to have dinner or snacks,” Aljew said.

Liloan has since been known for domestic tourism because of its beaches, a favorite weekend destination for residents from neighboring towns.

Aljew also said that they will monitor sanitation in the planned food street and will put up public comfort rooms in the area.

Though none of the vendors complained or opposed the plan, they asked that they be transferred after the Holy Week. — Garry B. Lao/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
