CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Ports Authority in coordination with the Philippine Coastguard have started putting up assistance centers in the port areas to assist passengers expected to flock these places during the observance of Holy Week.
In compliance with “Oplan Kalakbay 2009” of the Philippine government and the DOTC Garantisadong Tulong project Oplan Semana Santa Gabay sa Mamamayan, the Philippine Coastguard District Central-Eastern Visayas established and activated the Passengers Assistance Center from April 5 to 12.
The help desk will be manned and maintained by at least two representatives from the Philippine Coastguard, Marine Industry Authority, Philippine Ports Authority, Cebu Ports Authority and the Coastguard Auxiliary.
Volunteers from other government and non-government organizations as well as shipping lines will also be serving the seafaring public in all ports in Central Visayas on a 24/7 basis.
