Fire hits house of police chief

CEBU, Philippines - The house of a town police chief was damaged by fire when its kitchen went into flame shortly past midnight yesterday in barangay Suba, Samboan town.

Over P150,000 worth of property were lost during the fire, which burned down the dirty kitchen of the house owned by Boljoon Police Station chief Insp. Edward Villarin.

Investigation showed that the incident occurred after the Villarin family was cooking. The flame left on the firewood was reportedly the cause of the fire.

The fire was then controlled by responding firefighters few minutes later.

Three personnel from Samboan police immediately responded to the area following a phone call by a neighbor of the Villarins. – Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
