"Lost" cityhood may affect police operations

-

CEBU, Philippines - Police operations the cities of Carcar, Naga and Bogo may be affected if the three cities are reverted back to towns.

Cebu Provincial Police Office director Sr. Supt. Carmelo Valmoria said allocations to the police in these cities may decrease and affect the maintenance of peace and order.

“Maka-apekto gyud sa gimbuhaton sa kapulisan nga nadestino sa dakbayan sa Carcar, Naga, Bogo, human nalakip kini sa desisyon sa korte suprema nga ibalik sa pagka-lungsud ang 16 ka mga bag-ong nahimong dakbayan sa nasud,” he said.

But he vowed that whatever happens they will continue to carry out their duties. He also added there are no plans yet to decrease personnel currently assigned to these cities.

A policeman with the rank of superintendent will still manage the police stations of the three cities even if they are reverted back to towns because these areas have huge populations.

Earlier, the Supreme Court issued a decision reverting the 16 cities after they did not meet the qualification of P100 million income to become a city. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc and Guam Logroño/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
