Son upset with mom hangs self

CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old man, who reportedly terribly missed his mother who allegedly went with another man, committed suicide early morning yesterday in barangay Candaguit, Sibonga town.

The man, identified as Marvin Abucejo, was found with a rope tied around his neck, hanging from the ceiling of their kitchen.

A suicide note found also in the kitchen revealed of his “sentiments in life”, specifically for his mother who allegedly has an illicit affair with another man.

His mother, a domestic helper, reportedly did not come home anymore to their house in Manila upon her return here in the country. Instead, the mother allegedly went to Mindanao where her lover lives.

PO3 Niño Lawrence Ibo of the Sibonga Police Station further said that though Abucejo, youngest of four siblings, was from Manila, he came to Sibonga to continue his studies but completed only the second year level of high school around two years ago.

Abucejo wrote that way back when he was still in school, he was no longer serious with his studies, and that during classes he “kept on looking at nowhere” or was always absent-minded. He also learned to smoke from peers with whom he had found solace.

Abucejo ironically wrote, though, that his mother is not to be blamed for the incident as it was his decision to end his life.

His father, Romeo, said that his son “terribly missed his mother so much”, perhaps very disappointed she has not even come home for the past years.

“Tama na. Natikman ko na ang lahat ng paghihirap dito sa Cebu,” the last part of the suicide note read. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV    (THE FREEMAN)
