Army celebrates 112th founding anniversary

CEBU, Philippines – The Philippine Army held a display of weapons, uniforms and their civic projects in parking area of SM City Cebu in North Reclamation Area as part of their 112th founding anniversary yesterday.

This year’s theme is “Philippine Army: Kasama ng Mamamayan Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran.”

Yesterday’s activity started early morning and ended at 5 p.m. where they educated people about firearms used in actual battle.

Col. Norman Gomez, of 7th Regional Community Defense Group-Army Reserve Command of Philippine Army said that this anniversary observance is a month-long celebration all over the country.

As one of their activities they already conducted bloodletting of army cadets in basic and advance Reserve Officers Training Course cadets.

They also conducted tree planting activity in towns like Sogod, Barili, Tuburan. More towns will be visited soon.

ROTC students in University of San Jose-Recoletos was also there to assist presenters of the activity. 

The activity was also made to encourage more youngsters to join the Philippine Army.

Chief of Staff Lt. General Victor Ibrado said that the army is successful in its campaign to protect the country from all the threats of insurgency and that the army is a factor of a progressive country. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
