Two hurt in hacking and stabbing attacks

CEBU, Philippines – A man survived stab wounds while a woman survived a hacking the other day in the different barangays of Cebu City.

The fist incident happened around 5:10 p.m. in sitio Bagumbuhay, barangay Carreta wherein Ereneo Balcasantos, 26, a security guard and resident of the same place was stabbed several times by his 20-year-old neighbor, Reil Tampos.

The victim alleged that he and his friend Antonio Navales were inside the Carreta gym drinking and singing videoke when the suspect suddenly approached and for without any reason stabbed him in different parts of his body.

The victim was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center while the suspect fled upon the arrival of responding personnel from the Mobile Patrol Group.

Meanwhile, the other incident occurred in sitio Laguna, barangay Bulacao, around 4:05 p.m. wherein 42-year-old Dina Abraham was hacked in the head also by her 19-year-old neighbor Jestone Abaya.

The victim told police that she was about to buy something in the nearby store owned by Leonora Raganas when the suspect, who harbored ill feelings against her, suddenly hacked her in the head before fleeing.

The victim was rushed to the same hospital while the 18 and a half inch long bolo was turned over by informant Jimbo Sauro after it was retrieved from the crime scene. —Niña G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
