CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday led the inauguration of various projects in Bogo City and San Remigio town worth at least P28.6 million.
Garcia, who was welcomed by Bogo City Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr., inaugurated the new school buildings of Binabag National High School and Dakit Elementary School, three bridges – Lapaz-Banban Bridge and Odlot I and Odlot II Bridges, and the 9-kilometer road asphalting in Libertad-Odlot.
The total worth of infrastructure projects in Bogo City was P26.5 million. Martinez said the newly inaugurated infrastructure will further boost the economy of the city.
“Ang dalan maoy dugay na kaayo gihandom. Bata pa ako, gihandum na na nako ilabi na gyud sa atong katiguwangan,” Martinez said.
Martinez said he was truly thankful for the assistance given by the province.
“Kugihan kaayo. Kahibalo motan-aw kung unsa’y gikinahanglan sa taga-Bogo ug uban pang kalungsoran. Naglibog ko unsaon pagpasalamat,” Martinez added.
Garcia said she was pleased to meet Martinez again.
“Dili baya mi pareha og dalan ni Mayor Junie. Magkalahi man ang among gisunod nga dalan apan nagkaabot ra gyud diay kami kay usa ra man ang among tinguha, ang kalambuan ug kauswagan sa Bogo,” Garcia said.
Garcia and Martinez faced off in the 2004 gubernatorial race, which Garcia won.
“Sayod kamo nga ang akong pag-alagad wala’y gipalabi,” the governor said.
In San Remigio, Garcia inaugurated four-classroom buildings of San Remigio National High School and Toong Elementary School amounting to P2.1 million.
