Bongbong may go for VP or senator

CEBU, Philippines - Ilocos Norte Representative Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is eyeing either for vice president or senator in the 2010 national elections.

In an interview with reporters yesterday, Marcos however said he is still assessing the situation whether he should run for higher position.

He said he is now going around the country to get the pulse of the people for his next political move.

Marcos, who was in Cebu to keynote the gathering of Jaycees Cebu Incorporated (JCI) last night, visited Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes at the Mandaue City Hall yesterday afternoon.

Marcos said that at present, the political situation in the country is still confusing and topsy-turvy with regards to issues on political affiliations.

He said he would only take his next political move once all things are cleared.

For the meantime, he said he would be visiting various parts in the country to know the issues affecting the masses.

Marcos also said he was visiting Mandaue because the city’s former mayor Demetrio Cortes Jr., the father of Mayor Cortes, is an old ally of the Marcoses.

In fact, Mayor Cortes even showed Marcos a photo of his late father with former President Ferdinand Marcos during the signing of the city’s charter in 1969. — Flor Z. Perolina/LPM   (THE FREEMAN)
