Tommy O feels healthy after returning to work

-

CEBU, Philippines - Mayor Tomas Osmeña had some good news yesterday for his supporters.

The mayor said that he feels he has already regained his strength since returning home to get back to work as the city’s chief executive.

Osmeña said, a few days after he arrived back in Cebu City and started attending to the problems of the city, he had experienced an “unusual health condition” when his blood pressure went down to 120/80, meaning it is very normal.

His elder sister Minnie Osmeña said “Tommy’s blood pressure went down days after he arrived here because he loves to work for the people of Cebu City.”

When he saw that some of the reporters who entered his office for an interview yesterday noon wore surgical masks, Osmeña smiled at them and said “What happened with you?”

There was an earlier advice for the people who wish to visit the mayor to wear a surgical mask — that could be secured free of charge right at the entrance of his office. This was imposed to prevent the mayor from contracting any virus from visitors.

Osmeña said that this renewed strength could be attributed to the fact that it has been two weeks since his seventh chemotherapy session.

One up to 10 days after a chemotherapy session, a patient will experience weakness in resistance due to strong radiation, and usually the patients will only regain their strength after 10 days.

The reporters observed that Osmeña had received several guests at his office while he also entertained friends and close allies at his house in barangay Guadalupe.

He is scheduled to return to Houston, Texas on March 30 to undergo a surgical operation at the MD Anderson Cancer Center where his doctors will finally remove the portion of his urinary bladder that has cancer.

After the removal of the cancerous portion of Osmeña’s urinary bladder, the mayor will be subjected to a general check and evaluation of his condition. – Rene U. Borromeo/NLQ   (THE FREEMAN)
