Man drowns in Bantayan Town

CEBU, Philippines - A man believed to be suffering from a mental illness was found dead last Saturday at around 6:40 a.m. in barangay Sillon, Bantayan town.

The fatality was identified as Isias Sendon Santillan, 47, a widower and a resident of sitio Kalubihan barangay Tamiao of the said town.

The Bantayan police said it was barangay captain Crispin Alon and councilman Rodrigo Mange who called the police station and informed them that a dead person was found in the waters off their barangay.

It was the brother of the victim, Natalio Santillan, 55, who identified the body as that of his brother and said he suffered from a mental illness. 

After the autopsy on the body it was found the victim had drowned. There was no sign of any foul play.  — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
