CEBU, Philippines - A security guard was killed after the motorcycle he was riding rammed railings in the port area early morning yesterday.
Port policeman Vincent Hirro Hermocilla who responded to the incident identified the fatality as Elmo Rofitana, 37, a resident of barangay Lorega-San Miguel, Cebu City, and a member of the Kampilan Security Agency assigned to the Cebu Port Authority.
Hermocilla said witnesses told him the security guard was speeding towards Gate 7 of the pier area but when he reached a curve he lost control of his motorcycle and hit the railings installed beside the road.
He was thrown some distance away to the other side of the road and immediately died due to severe head injuries.
Hermocilla denied earlier reports that motorcycle riders usually hold races in the area after speculations came out that the guard was racing with someone when he got killed.
—Ma.
