Man bludgeoned after stabbing relative

CEBU, Philippines – A man is now in critical condition after he was bludgeoned in the head by a relative he stabbed early morning yesterday in Salum St., sitio Caduloy, barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Jayme Alvares Bucao, 47, a construction worker and a resident of the place, made it to the hospital alive, but his relative Joven Bucao Pascual, 31, of Mandaue City, died after Bucao stabbed him.

Witnesses Joseph Fernandez, 19, and Julieta Lugpit, 55, told police that they were drinking with Pascual and other friends along the road around 4:30 a.m., when Bucao, an enemy of the fatality, passed by and saw him.

Armed with a 23-inch long bolo, Bucao allegedly stabbed Pascual in the abdomen, thrusting so hard the blade reportedly exited through Pascual’s back.

Even already wounded, Pascual managed to retaliate by picking up a rock and bludgeoning Bucao’s head.

Both men were taken to the Cebu City Medical Center. Pascual was declared dead on arrival by doctors while Bucao is still in critical condition.

Responding policemen from the Mobile Patrol Group arrived in the area after the incident and turned over the bloodstained weapons to the Scene of the Crime Operations personnel.

Pascual’s body was later brought to the St. Bernard Funeral Homes for autopsy. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP (THE FREEMAN)
