Former convict found dead in Balamban

CEBU, Philippines - A man who was reportedly a former convict was found dead lying beside the Transcentral Highway in sitio Curos-curos barangay Cansumoroy, Balamban last Monday.

The body of Sosimo Sohot, alyas Titing, a resident of White Hills Village in Banawa, Guadalupe in Cebu City, was found with both hands being tied and mouth covered with a tape. It bore multiple stab wounds.

Motorists found Sohot’s body around 6:30 a.m. and immediately informed the police. SPO3 Arvie Ricardo Banate Jr. and PO3 Eugene Macapaz of the Balamban Police Station immediately went to the area.

Sohot was identified through the certificate of discharge from the Cebu City Jail, which was found by police inside his pocket. The certificate showed that the victim had been jailed for frustrated homicide.

PO2 Hannibal Larida, desk officer of Balamban Police Station, said that their initial investigation showed that Sohot was killed in another area.

“Gibinaklid og gapos ug gi tabunan pa ang mata sa biktima gamit ug tape. Nagtuo g’yud mi nga wala gipatay ang biktima diha sa dapit nga ang iyang lawas nakit-an kun dili didto sa laing dapit kay gamay raman nga dugo ang among nakita.” Larida said.

“Dili pa mi makatumbok karon ug kinsa ang suspek pero duda namo nga diha ra sa syudad ang naghimo ani,” Larida added. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
