Laborer arrested for possessing marijuana

CEBU, Philippines - A 39 year-old-laborer was arrested last Monday by policemen in Danao City and elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for allegedly possessing dried marijuana leaves.

Arnold Hermosilla Barriga was placed under arrest after the police and PDEA agents found dried marijuana leaves inside his house in barangay Guinto.

 Conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Arnold Hermosilla Barriga, the operation was led by Danao City Police Station chief Supt. Larson Dechino.

The raiding team seized from Barriga’s house a bundle of dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately five kilograms, five pieces of rolling papers, a plastic of chopped marijuana leaves seeds, and a scissor.

The raid had been witnessed by Guinto baragay captain Flordelito Almaro and councilman Dean Rigonan.

Barriga was reportedly known as a drug pusher in their place.

PO3 Dominic Tampus, desk officer of Danao City Police Station, said that Barriga will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the law on illegal drugs. – Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
