Father stabs dead mom of son's former partner
CEBU, Philippines - A man stabbed to death the mother of the former live-in partner of his son last Monday night in sitio Tianggehan, barangay Mambaling thinking that the woman is behind the stabbing of his son.
Cornelio Banawa, 49, of sitio Lawis-Alaska stabbed 44-year-old Teresita Toring of sitio Nava. Teresita is the mother of Rosanna Toring, the former common-law wife of Cornelio’s son, Noli Banawa.
Investigation showed that the victim and her daughter Rosanna were on their way to the Carbon Public Market to sell spices and vegetables.
But Cornelio allegedly waylaid them and started stabbing Teresita with a kitchen knife, hitting her in the right neck, left chest, and the right portion of her body.
The victim was then rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival, while the suspect who was mauled by bystanders was arrested by barangay tanod Juan Marata.
Rosanna alleged that the suspect had ill feelings towards them after his son, Noli, who was her former live-in partner, was stabbed last Friday at 8 p.m. The suspect accused the victim and her daughter of hiring a certain Dennis to carry out the stabbing.
The suspect is temporarily detained at the Mambaling Police Station after he was treated at the CCMC for head injuries. – Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
