CEBU, Philippines – A tanod of barangay Gaas in the western town of Balamban was placed under arrest after he threatened to kill the barangay captain during a local fair last Friday afternoon.
Policemen also discovered that the .357 caliber pistol Romeo Macapaz aimed at barangay captain Ebaresto Traya was unlicensed.
In an interview over dySS, SPO4 Marcial Montebon of the Balamban police said the incident occurred when Macapaz, who was reportedly drunk at that time, went wild at a fair in the barangay.
Traya, who was also in the area, tried to pacify Macapaz but the latter instead got angry, pulled out his .357 caliber pistol, and threatened to kill Traya.
Luckily, two policemen members of the Regional Training School were at the area and immediately neutralized Macapaz and subsequently confiscated the firearm.
At the police station, it was discovered that the gun was unlicensed.
